Get your Denture Adjusted
Do you feel like your dentures do not fit as good as they used to? Are they causing you pain and discomfort?
As you age, the structure of your mouth’s bone changes. The soft tissues become smaller which can affect the overall fit and comfort of your current dentures. If you experience discomfort and pain weighing your dentures down, let Affordable Dentures & Implants alleviate your pain. We offer denture adjustments at our affiliated practices.
Full and partial dentures should rest perfectly on your gums. They are specially crafted to fit the contours of your mouth to ensure a fit that feels as close to your natural teeth as possible. If not snugly fit into your mouth, your dentures will not be able to function for its uses.
This can occur due to many reasons such as:
- Chip/cracked/broken teeth
- Facial shape changes
- Difficulty chewing
- Pressure and oral sores
If you are experiencing any of these issues with your dentures, you should come down for an appointment as soon as possible. During your visit, our dentists will conduct a thorough assessment to determine the cause and if another type of repair is necessary.
We offer all our patients with personalised care and advice if they are experiencing pain from their dentures. If you need new dentures, our in-house lab can craft new dentures or crowns free of charge during the first 60 days after your treatment.
While damages to your dentures are inevitable and uncontrollable, you can inculcate some preventive habits to keep these issues at bay.
1. Handle your dentures with care
Your dentures should be handled with care. Try not to bend the plastic of your dentures when you take them out and put them into your mouth. Maintain their shape and structure as much as possible. Do not throw or slam your dentures when cleaning.
2. Brush your dentures daily
Cleaning your dentures daily is exceptionally crucial. Just like natural teeth, you should thoroughly brush them with a soft-bristled brush twice a day.
After cleaning them in the night, soak them in a nonabrasive denture cleanser to remove any stubborn food and other particles. Check with your dentist on how to soak your dentures overnight properly.
3. Remove and rinse dentures after meals
Run your dentures with water to remove any food debris after meals. Rinse them thoroughly before putting them back in your mouth, especially if you have soaked them in the medicated denture-soaking solution overnight.
Cleaning out the solution properly is vital. Failing to do so can trigger vomiting, pain or burns if accidentally swallowed.
4. Clean your mouth after removing your dentures
Use a soft-bristled toothbrush on gums and tongue, cheeks and roof of your mouth after removing the dentures. If denture adhesive is used, brush to remove it entirely from your gums.
